Hands-on workshop on Electronics 3D Printing

The Maker Bhavan at IIT Gandhinagar had offerred a hands on workshop on 3D Printed Electronics. The workshop introduced participants to witness a live demonstration of 3d printing an electronics circuit, along with a how to session on building printed circuit boards starting from the design on your computer.

Date: 12th Dec, 2022

Time: 2:30 to 5:00 PM

IITGN Science Awareness Program

Maker Bhavan Participated in four day long program

Science Awareness Programme for the 11th and 12th class school children, in which about 850 students from the Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad region had participated. The event was part of the Government of India’s ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to commemorate 75 years of independence and is funded by Department of Science & Technology (DST), under the scheme STUTI (Synergistic Training program Utilizing the Scientific and Technological Infrastructure).

The event was packed with several interesting and hands-on activities, with an aim to popularize STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) learning among the students.

Dates: 22nd Feb to 25th Feb, 2022

3D Scanning and Printing Short Course

Maker Bhavan Short Course

This short project course at the Maker Bhavan was envisioned to provide an opportunity for students to learn and acquire skills through hands-on experience on 3d scanning. Students have been trained and tasked to “generate data from things – 3D Scanning”, and “convert data into things – 3D printing”.

The idea was to provide an experience of the entire process through hands-on project work at the IITGN Maker Bhavan.

Dates: 21st Feb to 25th Feb, 2022

3D Scanning Workshop

Reverse Engineering

The Maker Bhavan at IIT Gandhinagar brought the online workshop on 3D Scanning  Technology, which has introduced participants to “reverse engineering” via 3D scanner. The sessions have offered training and live demonstration of 3D Scanning, post-processing of scanned data, and its conversion to 3D-printable and manufacturable objects.

Date: 26th & 27th July 2021 [Mon & Tue]
Time: 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM

Workshop was brief and covered all basics of metal printing. I liked the last live demonstration part the most.

Metal 3D Printing Workshop

AMThis one more online workshop on the ‘Think-Design series’, in collaboration with the industry experts, introducing participants to Metal 3D Printing technology. The workshop comprised two 90-minute sessions and offered training in designing, creating, and processing metal 3D Printing technology by a live demonstration of machines operation.

Date: 17th to 18th, June 2021 [Thu & Fri]
Time: 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM

Introducing us to most recent technologies with people involved with it is very helpful.

Think. Design. Cut

This second online workshop in the Think Design series by the IIT Gandhinagar Maker Bhavan introduced participants to the “making” possibilities using Laser Cutting technology.

The 3 sessions offered basic training in design, creation and cutting of 2D objects, which can be assembled into 3D structure. Laser cutting output then shipped to the participants at the end of the workshop.

Date: 17th to 19th, March 2021 [Wed, Thu & Fri]
Time: 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM

The workshop covered the fundamentals but was not too basic even for people from manufacturing background. The whole workflow was covered from scratch which was also very nice.

Think. Design. Print

The Maker Bhavan at IIT Gandhinagar has offered an online workshop introducing participants to the world of 3D printing.

The workshop comprised two 90-minute sessions, and offered a training in design, creation and printing of 3D objects using FDM and SLA technologies. We shipped the printed objects to the participants at the end of the workshop.

Date: 21st & 22nd, Jan 2021 [Thu & Fri]
Time: 06:30 PM to 08:30 PM

The hands on experience and step by step guidance. It was the perfect mix of basics and stuff that is actually applicable for 3D printing.
